OkCupid 'Satisfied' With Brendan Eich, Anti-Gay Mozilla CEO, Resignation

Mozilla landed itself in hot water this week after Proposition 8 donor Brendan Eich became the company's new CEO.

The fallout was inevitable, with half of Mozilla's board reportedly resigning over the controversy. Things got even worse for Mozilla when OkCupid, a popular dating website, publicly came out against the appointment of Eich to CEO. In a letter published Monday on OKCupid.com -- but only viewable to users accessing the site through Firefox -- the website asked users to access OkCupid through a different browser due to Eich's support of Proposition 8.

The pressure mounted and Eich resigned as CEO of Mozilla yesterday.

In the wake of Eich's resignation, OkCupid released a statement regarding the news:
We are pleased that OkCupid’s boycott has brought tremendous awareness to the critical matter of equal rights for all individuals and partnerships; today’s decision reaffirms Mozilla’s commitment to that cause. We are satisfied that Mozilla will be taking a number of further affirmative steps to support the equality of all relationships.

Mozilla has not yet appointed a new CEO.
