A group of teens pummeled a Memphis grocery store customer and then attacked two of the store's employees when they tried to help.

WREG reports:

A 25-year-old man said he was attacked by the group as he walked to his car. Two Kroger employees, 17 and 18, ran to help the man. Both were repeatedly hit in the head and face.

The teens told police pumpkins “in excess of 20 pounds” were thrown on their heads while they were on the ground.

Graphic and disturbing cell phone footage of the attack, which took place Saturday night, can be seen above.

Eventually, a store security guard stopped the beating.

All three victims were treated for their injuries and are now at home.

WMCA reports that one of the suspects in the attack has been arrested. He is identified as the teen in the lime-green shirt in the video, but his name and age haven't been released.

In a follow up story, WREG spoke with a witness to the beating who said the teens attacked the 25-year-old at random.

"They were playing a game called ‘point them out, knock them out’ where they would point someone out and attempt to knock them out or fight them," the unidentified witness said. "There was no real reason behind it."

The video appears to show black teens beating up a white victim, but the witness said there were white and black, male and female perpetrators and two of the victims were black.

The witness also said one of the employees was hit with a pumpkin while he was unconscious.

"They followed hitting him with a pumpkin," the witness said. "He was already unconscious, so all you could see was blood and pumpkins.”
