The first trailer for Michael Mann's "Blackhat" has finally arrived. Starring Viola Davis, Chris Hemsworth, Holt McCallany, Tang Wei and Leehom Wang, the film's description reads, "'Blackhat' follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta."
Little was known about "Blackhat" until this year's Comic-Con, when Mann and Hemsworth presented footage from the movie and announced the title. Previously, the project had been referred to as "Untitled Michael Mann Cyber-Thriller."
Based on the official trailer, it's apparent that at least four major banks have been hacked. With any luck Nicholas Hathaway (Hemsworth), a convicted MIT-trained hacker/genius coder, will save the world.
"Blackhat" is due in theaters Jan. 16, 2015.
