For little Leon Trotsky the pig, an unfortunate accident turned out to be a life-saver.

The 3-week-old piglet was born on a pig farm and destined to become somebody's dinner until his injured mother accidentally fell on him, crushing his hind quarters and killing two of his siblings, the Edgar's Mission blog reported.

Because of his injury, a good Samaritan took pity on him and decided to help the little guy, rescuing him from the gloomy fate he faced at the farm. Eventually, Leon ended up in the loving hands of Edgar's Mission, a non-profit farm sanctuary set on 60 acres in Victoria, Australia.

The sanctuary got Leon the medical care he needed for his injuries, which included a broken and dislocated right hind femur, as well as ligament damage on the left side.

Despite difficulties surrounding his small size, Leon got his own set of wheels, and with it, a new lease on life!

To follow Leon's progress, check out the Edgar's Mission blog.
